We have a superb opportunity for an experienced Engineering (Design) Project Manager at our US Business Center (USBC) based in Sugar Land, Houston.


Job description:

As a key member of the Systems Engineering team, the successful candidate will provide high quality analytical systems solutions to include analyser sample systems, enclosures, shelters, networking and communications for customer applications requiring Servomex products.
The talented individual will have dual leadership and project management skills and will act as both a Project Manager and Engineer/Designer of projects from customer concept to commissioning. This is an integral role within our Systems Engineering team and we are seeking a team player who is customer focused, with the credibility and experience to take ownership of key business projects.

About the Role:

  • Collaboration with customers and sales to determine best solution strategy based on customer applications, specification, safety and plant needs during quotation process
  • Provide detailed design packages of electrical, mechanical, physical layout, and analyser sample systems and associated material lists based on customer requirements
  • Assist project team to track project schedules, milestones, and budgets to meet Customer and Company goals
  • Follow Company and industry-established practices, standards, guidelines and procedures for preparation of estimates, scopes, specifications, design, and other deliverables
  • Modify existing and/or create new Company engineering procedures, standard templates and practices to stay current with technology, improved methodologies, and project lessons learned
  • Interface with other internal and external engineering disciplines/departments, shop personnel, plant operations, maintenance and reliability personnel and vendors/suppliers regarding technical issues
  • Interface with customers, representative companies and Regional Sales Managers to provide updates on product/systems progress, Factory Acceptance Testing (FATs), shipment/delivery dates and general on-going sales support.
  • Assist service staff in diagnosing system problems and making repairs
  • Support customer service to develop change orders if necessary and establishing costs for quoting
  • Participate in customer service and engineering improvement initiatives as required

 

About you:
Essential Skills and Experience:

  • A proven track in analytical systems design: Instrumentation, Electrical & Analytical (IE&A) systems
  • Project management experience for small (less than $100K) and large (greater than $1MM) projects
  • AutoCAD experience with system design/drafting (to a good level)
  • Strong communication and coordination skills with a strong sense of ownership and responsibility for assigned work
  • Strong verbal and written skills to communicate and obtain cooperation from team members involved in the project execution process, i.e. customer scope definition, engineering and design, FAT, commissioning and start-up activities
  • Strong willingness to learn from team interactions
  • Systematic approach to problem definition and solution development

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering/ Science discipline or similar (consideration will be given to candidates with a technology certification (2-4-year programme)

Desirable Skills, Experience:

  • Experience and knowledge of Quality systems
  • Ability to work effectively within team environment to include working as coach and mentor to junior team members to support ongoing development/improvements related to work-flow processes of the Systems Engineering and extended teams

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Lean Six Sigma Green / Black belt qualification/ Practitioner.
  • An understanding of effective project management principles.
