Servomex delivers highly accurate measurements of sulfur dioxide (SO₂) emissions for your process. Our SERVOPRO 4900 Multigas continuous emissions monitoring system (CEMS) gas analyzer delivers a range of part-per-million (ppm) measurements for SO₂ gas analysis in emissions monitoring applications for regulatory compliance and clean air.
Sulfur dioxide is one of the six criteria pollutants identified by the US Environmental Protection Agency as requiring control to meet air quality standards. Commonly resulting from the combustion of fossil fuels, it is harmful to human, animal, and plant life. Regulatory bodies across the world require emissions from industrial plants to be monitored by an SO2 gas analyzer. In most cases, heavy fines and other penalties may be levied for exceeding permitted SO₂ levels.
An enhanced version of Infrared sensing, Gas Filter Correlation (Gfx) technology uses photometric analysis to deliver extremely accurate results when low-level measurements are needed, or where background gases may interfere with the measurement.
It is based on the ability of gases to absorb unique light wavelengths, and uses that property to identify the concentration of sulfur dioxide in a flue gas. Gfx delivers a real-time measurement response, unaffected by background gases. The measurement technique is virtually immune to obscuration of the optics, which prevents sensor drift and reduces calibration frequency.
The SERVOPRO 4900 Multigas analyzer can be configured to measure up to four simultaneous gas stream measurements. This means it can be used as a standalone sulfur dioxide analyzer, or as part of a comprehensive CEMS system for a wide range of industries and processes including power generation, petrochemical, refining, waste incineration, iron and steel, pulp and paper, and cement manufacture.
For accurate and reliable ppm measurements of SO₂, Servomex provides the SERVOPRO 4900 Multigas analyzer. Configured with a Gas Filter Correlation sensor, it delivers high-range SO₂ measurements (0-1,000/0-10,000 ppm), standard-sensitivity measurements (0-200/0-2,500 ppm), and high-sensitivity measurements (0-100/0-1,000 ppm).
Specifically designed for continuous emissions monitoring of flue gas, the SERVOPRO 4900 Multigas can deliver up to four simultaneous gas stream measurements.
It combines Servomex’s leading-edge sensing technologies with a modern digital platform, for next-generation performance at a low cost of ownership.
The 4900 Multigas is backwards-compatible with existing 4900 installations and uses the same reliable measurement technology, providing trusted gas analysis combined with the advanced digital communications required by modern systems.
Our Gfx sensing technology delivers a versatile measurement of sulfur dioxide concentration for CEMS analysis, meeting a range of safety and regulatory requirements.
An advanced form of Infrared sensing, Gas Filter Correlation (Gfx) technology is ideal in applications with interferent background gases, delivering precise, sensitive measurements. It is used in our SERVOTOUGH SpectraExact 2500 photometric analyzer, and is a key technology for our SERVOPRO multi-gas analyzers, the MultiExact 4100, MultiExact 4200, and 4900 Multigas.
Learn more about Gfx technologyInfrared sensing is a flexible measurement technology based on the unique light-absorbing properties of some gases. It delivers a non-contact, real-time detection of the selected gas’s concentration in a mixture, and is widely used in our analyzer range, including portable analyzers, photometric products, and multi-gas analyzers.
